SOLUTIONS FOR COMMUNITIES

The St. Louis-based Preservation Research Office believes that saving our architectural heritage is a solution, not a problem, in community development. Our services include building research, technical assistance (including National Register of Historic Places nominations and advocacy work), public records research and analysis, educational and public program development, tour guide and guest speaker service and building condition assessment.

PRO's specialty is the intersection of community development and historic preservation. From homeowners to community development corporations, PRO clients look to better their communities through retaining and enhancing their historic architecture.

PRO is a small start-up launched in August 2009 and directed by Michael R. Allen, an architectural historian and historic preservation professional. (C.V. upon request.)

RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY

The Preservation Research Office publishes the blog Ecology of Absence, a chronicle of historic preservation and community renewal efforts in the St. Louis region.
